Well into its 4th decade, NAFEMS continues to spread best practices in CAE. Much of the French simulation community came together in Paris on May 30th to hear from Industry leaders and exchange their own experiences.
Summer weather arrives in Paris by the end of May. But it was all business, networking and tech-talk at the Parisian conference hotel where more than a dozen presentations were given by industry experts.
The speakers came from industry-leading companies and academic institutions. These included Renault, PSA, Airbus, Fiat Chrysler, and Safran Engineering, the University of Liege, and the Ecole Centrale de Nantes, among others. The conference title of "L'Optimisation par la Simulation", promised interesting discussions. The first presentation attacked the topic head-on as Yves Tourbier of Renault provided a detailed look at Renault's process for generating, following and adapting their "Simulation Roadmap".
Further presentations touched on structural optimizations, model reduction, engine simulation, multi-physics simulation, composite materials, and even the use of additive manufacturing for topological optimizations.
In addition to the full presentation program for the day, over a dozen companies were present in the conference showcase area. Simulation software heavy-weights were present, including companies like Siemens / CD-adapco, Ansys, Dassault Systèmes, ESI Group, EnginSoft, and others.
The Paris Conference was just a warm-up for NAFEMS annual World Congress. The NWC 2017 will take place in Stockholm from June 11th to June 14th.
