The SPS (Smart Production Solutions) is the leading international trade fair for smart and digital automation, held annually at the Nuremberg Exhibition Center in Germany.

Formerly known as SPS IPC Drives, the exhibition has evolved to represent the complete spectrum of industrial automation solutions—from simple sensors to fully integrated intelligent systems.

Automation and Intelligence

The SPS 2024 edition (November 12-14, 2024) particularly emphasized Industrial Artificial Intelligence as the central theme. AI integration across production technology, predictive maintenance, quality control, and adaptive production control represented the dominant trend, reflecting how AI is transforming automation from a future concept into present-day reality.

Additional focus areas included digital transformation, cybersecurity, smart factory concepts, sustainability in manufacturing, and the Industrial Metaverse

The SPS 2024 welcomed 51,291 visitors across 16 exhibition halls covering 125,000 square meters, with 1,114 exhibiting companies. International participation remained strong at approximately 29% of visitors (around 14,700 international attendees), demonstrating the fair's global reach. The event featured over 160 expert presentations, panel discussions, and product demonstrations across four forum stages.

The exhibition serves as the absolute industry highlight where the entire automation community—from startups to global market leaders like Siemens, Beckhoff Automation, Phoenix Contact, and Bosch Rexroth—converges annually.

Robotics and CAD

RobCo's modular robots target small and medium-sized manufacturers with affordable, flexible automation featuring no-code software and pay-as-you-go business models. The company focused on developing "autonomous manufacturing agents" capable of operating without manual programming, particularly for applications requiring adaptability such as textile handling, bin picking, and assembly tasks.

Siemens made substantial advances in Industrial AI, presenting  the Siemens Industrial Copilot—the first generative AI-powered product for engineering in industrial environments. This AI assistant integrates with the Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) Portal to accelerate automation code generation, reduce development times, and increase productivity.
