The 16-inch sweet-spot
New tech, new design, and a move to 16-inches means a power-upgrade for the ZBook Studio G9.
The previous generation came in a 15-inch format. This G9’s new format gives the ZBook design team breathing room to expand performance.
The Maximum Configuration
Let’s start with the maximum configuration:
Feature | Maximum Configuration |
---|---|
GPU | NVIDIA RTX™ A5500 16 GB GDDR6 |
CPU | Intel Core i9-12900H |
Memory | 64 GB DDR5-4800 |
Storage | 4 TB PCIe® Gen4 x4 NVMe™ M.2 SSD |
Display | 3840x2400 HP DreamColor 16-inch display |

This system delivers:
Feature | Tested Configuration |
---|---|
GPU | NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3070 Ti 8 GB GDDR6 |
CPU | Intel Core i9-12900H |
Memory | 32 GB DDR5-4800 |
Storage | 1 TB PCIe® Gen4 x4 NVMe™ M.2 SSD |
Display | 1920 x 1200 16-inch display |
What’s new?
First, 16-inches is new. In and of itself, not a big deal. Honestly, 15.6 inches compared to 16 inches is just a slight nudge in dimensions. In fact, the starting weight of the new G9 is less than the G8. This makes the slightly larger display a “gimme” when it comes to the strain on your shoulder.
The G9 does move to a 16x10 aspect ratio with 1920x1200 and 3840x2400 resolution displays. Like the G8, the G9 offers many display options. The options include an IPS DreamColor display and an OLED multitouch display.
The GPU offering received a performance bump. The GeForce RTX choices remain the same as on the G8, but the professional RTX choices were bumped in performance, memory, or both. The RTX A3000 doubled graphics memory to 12 GB. The RTX A4000 and A5000 options are now RTX A4500 and RTX A5500 GPUs.
Naturally, the CPU technology switched from Intel’s 11th generation Core processors to the 12th generation.
For many customers, the doubling of system memory to 64 GB and system storage to 4 TB may be the most interesting changes.
On to the testing!
This Studio configuration is ready for our tests. The combined NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti and Intel Core i9-12900H should be a powerful configuration. The Fury G9 we tested was configured with an RTX A3000 GPU and an i7 CPU - one step below this Studio’s configuration. That should make an interesting comparison.
