The latest 3XS Data Science Workstation has arrived. This dual Quadro RTX 8000, dual Xeon workstation looks like a powerful solution for data scientists. Let's take a quick look.

More than a powerful workstation

It is loaded with transistors. It has a heavenly spec. The unit weighs in at 30 kg. The chassis is massive. Two Quadro REX 8000 are sitting just below the dual Xeon Silver 4216 processors. The processors are flanked by 192 GB of memory modules. 

The Quadro RTX 8000 brings 18.6 billion transistors to bear on the toughest graphics and computing problems. Each Quadro is loaded with 48 GB of GDDR6 memory. The boards are connected with NVLink and the total 96 GB of memory can be used as a unified pool of memory. 

Above the Quadro boards sit dual Xeon Silver 4216 processors with Deep Learning Boost technology. Each CPU has 16 cores and 32 threads and a base clock of 2.10 GHz with a boost clock of 3.2 GHz.

The 192 GB of ECC DDR4 memory is clocked at 2666 MHz. The test system is configured with a 2 TB SSD drive and an 8 TB SATA HDD.

Optimized performance and productive out-of-the-box

The hardware configuration is impressive. The 3XS could handle workloads from many areas: simulation, rendering, and video to name a few. This system, however, is a Scan 3XS Data Science Workstation. It's no ordinary high-end machine.

When I booted the system for the first time, the software stack was ready to run. It includes RAPIDS, TensorFlow, PyTorch, CAFFE, Docker, and more.

In short, the 3XS Data Scientist Workstation has been specially configured and extensively tested by the engineers at Scan. The extensive testing and specialized software stack means that you will get off to a fast start.
